Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Arberie Nagavci and World Bank Office Manager for Kosovo Massimiliano Paolucci, have inaugurated the network for Research and Education of Kosovo (KREN).
At the inauguration ceremony held at the Innovation and Training Park in Prizren, Prime Minister Albin Kurti said that today we are crowning the next success, the creation of the national network for research and education, with which the Kosovo network is locked in the pan-European academic network, which will play an important role for scientific research.
Talking about Kosovo’s successes in extending the internet, Prime Minister Kurti said Kosovo is a champion in the Balkans and comparable to European countries in extending the network and will soon celebrate the latest f connection the waterfalls on the net.
Economy Minister Artane Rizvanolli stressed that our dedication and work focus on developing the extension and improvement of digital infrastructure, to push forward the digital transformation of the country and enable the full realization of its the tendential of our talented youth.
Minister Rizvanolli said that with KREN, research students will have access to virtual laboratories, software, advanced training, and joint research projects with colleagues across Europe.
Also, Minister Rizvanolli announced that all primary and secondary schools in Kosovo will be linked with KREN, and so far, cooperation memorandums have been signed with 16 universities and colleges in Kosovo agreeing on the god met and the commitments of both parties.
Meanwhile, Minister Arbërie Nagavci pointed out that in the 2022-2026 Education Strategy that has been drafted, digitalization is among the essential elements of this strategy and is the fifth pillar of the Strategy.
To enhance the quality of education, she said it is important that our educational institutions become digitalized and in the next 5 years it aims to achieve this, digitizing all school institutions.
The KREN project is implemented by the Ministry of Economy and supported by the World Bank. All universities in Kosovo will be connected to the KREN system, soon all school institutions will be connected and will be used by the Ministry of Education to distribute the Digital Curriculum. Also, with KREN students and researchers will have access to virtual laboratories, advanced software training, and joint research projects with colleagues from all over Europe and many other services will be offered.
